What are Hand Games?
Hand Games is a cultural game played by First Nations peoples across North America. Hand Games are played by hiding sticks in their hands and guessing the location. Two teams of five players sit across each other and try to outsmart the other team by hiding objects and passing between team members. While traditional songs and drums are played, the goal of the game is to correctly guess where the object is hidden to score points, which is scored by 11 painted sticks. The team that acquires 11 painted sticks wins the game.
Guests are invited to watch the Hand Games Competition on July 11, 12 & 13 from 3 P.M. to 9 P.M. in the Elbow River Camp Arbour.
